• Labour costs have risen by over 25% since 2019, driven by National Living Wage increases and employer National Insurance contributions. The BCIS Labour Cost Index forecasts a further 7.1% rise in 2025 alone.

• Aluminium prices have surged by 58% since 2020, according to the London Metal Exchange (Aluminium Official Prices, 3-month contract) — the key material in almost all our vintage products.

• Machinery maintenance and replacement costs have escalated, with UK repair and upkeep costs forecast to reach £5.3 billion in 2025–26. Much of our vintage plate machinery is bespoke or legacy equipment, making parts and servicing increasingly complex, expensive and difficult to source.

• Recent industry reports show some of the most sobering trends:

  • A 21.3% tax burden on employers—the highest since the minimum wage was introduced.

  • A 23.7% drop in job postings, indicating a tightening labour market and reduced availability of skilled workers.

  • A 13% rise in raw material costs forecast over the next five years, compounding existing inflation.
